    The Covered Wagon

From a family trip to a real business

Inspired by the pioneer spirit of westward expansion — and the symbol of the covered wagon — I grew curious about what it actually takes to bring people together over a meal. What began as a shared idea with my sister became a real look behind the curtain of the restaurant world: menu planning, place settings, financing, ambiance, and service, from garde manger to sommelier to executive chef. In high school it grew into a baking and catering business, taking on graduation parties, birthdays, and celebrations, and pushing me to master baking techniques from puff pastry to macaronage — now my specialty.

    Just a Dash of Cinnamon

Founded in high school, inspired by Cannelle

Once I was already baking for customers, I figured — why not bake for their dogs too? Named after my rescue husky, Cannelle, who took on sous-chef duties, this dog-treat business grew through word of mouth across my Covered Wagon network. It taught me the basics of customer outreach and business financing, tracked in spreadsheets late at night.
